Pangaea Zimbabwe AIDS Trust (PZAT) is an independent Zimbabwean entity registered as a local Trust in August of 2012 (MA/909/2012). PZAT strives to transform the lives of people living with and affected by HIV by working to ensure their access to comprehensive HIV and sexual health services delivered in safe and supportive environments. PZAT, as a partner in the ZimPAAC consortium has been working with the MOHCC to improve access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services for key and priority population groups in Zimbabwe.
Job summary
The Economic Strengthening Officer will report to the Project Lead. Working closely with the Project Coordinator and Strategic Information Coordinator and Field Officers, the ES officer will oversee delivery of the DREAMS economic strengthening package in Bubi, Nkayi, Lupane and Tsholotsho districts under the CDC/Zim-TTECH funded DREAMS program. The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS) program aims to reduce new HIV infections amongst adolescent girls and young women and is implemented in Matabeleland North.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate timeous and quality implementation of all DREAMS economic strengthening activities in Matabeleland North province; Provide technical support to Field Officers in the implementation of the economic strengthening component as per project benchmarks; Coordinate provision of facilitation, training, and technical support to targeted YWSS with a focus on financial literacy, skills assessment, market opportunity identification/assessment, and entrepreneurship and business development services; Provide guidance on appropriate technical and programmatic approaches to prepare AGYW/YWSS to succeed and sustain their businesses; Identify and nurture strategic partnerships to support the project to meet economic strengthening goals; Collaborate with district teams to mobilize, assess and recruit eligible girls for ES package; Develop and maintain working relationships with beneficiaries and community organizations, as well as enhancing relationships with government departments, organisations, referral sources and community leaders that support economic strengthening activities; Document economic strengthening project results and impact, including lessons learned, success stories, client satisfaction, newsletter articles; Timely produce and share weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; Collaborate with strategic information unit and support program monitoring through tracking weekly targets, analyzing project data; performance results analysis, visualization and reporting; Provide provincial administrative support for the project; Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, experience, and key competencies required
Demonstrated experience in design and delivery of training and mentoring in youth focused interventions; Experience in program planning, community mobilization, implementation of program activities and capacity building; Knowledge of health and development interventions, including HIV/AIDS, key populations and mental health; Understanding of the DREAMS program aims, principles, values and rights-based approaches for young people is an added advantage; Solid interpersonal communication skills, non – judgmental engagement with beneficiaries and stakeholders and sense of confidentiality; Ability to work effectively within a team, to network and to work under pressure; Strong strategic planning, management, administrative and financial management skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency in Ndebele is a distinct advantage.
